Default Stuck in a guild wars boredom rut

I have played gw for 15 months now and now i find it really boring. I go onto the character screen and stare at my characters for 1 hr not knowing what to do. How can i renew my love for guild wars? Thanks

Take a break. Play other games. Just because you can play Guild Wars doesn't mean you should. There are HUNDREDS of other games out there to try.

Yep. Staring at a log-in but no longer wanting to play is a classic sign that it's time to move on, or at least take an extended break.

I've been bored many many times and it just takes a small goal or inspiration to make me get right back in the thick of GW.

For example: craft a new armor set, try a new build or farm build out, go back and help the new people, go back and show off to noobs who can't play lol, seek out a guild or join other guilds, etc.

Whenever I feel the same, I go back near earlier areas and help individual people with questing, missions or even questions. Getting thanked by a person appreciating your help can sometimes be a breath of fresh air from all the people calling you a noob or argueing and bickering in the game.

That way, you feel appreciated and a new player had a positive experience, allowing him to play for a longer period of time instead of being turned away by rude people and they gain a little more experience and learn to play better.

Win/Win

However, I do agree that taking a breather can also be healthy once in a while.

That is what usually happens when you are in an organized group or you H/H. Use a monk and go PUGing. You may be surprised how fast you must press those keys to keep your party alive.

I enjoy H/Hing and experimenting with different skills. I don't go with cookie cutters or proven skills/builds that kill everything in your path. Instead, I try different things to see what else works, what doesn't, and what new troubles I can get myself into. I do this when I quest, so I can actually do a quest, complete it, all the while doing different things to keep the game more interesting.

i found myself in the same rut a while back, i went out and got oblivion and the shivering isles. it was a massive departure from GW. it was open and expansive, completely immersive. you were free to do virtually anything you wanted to do. fight in a city arena in front of a crowd, break into homes as a thief become and assassin... on and on. what it did is provide something so different and mind absorbing that when i returned to GW it seemed fresh new, sort of like the first time ya loaded it up.

Here are some suggestions
1. If you are of legal drinking age...turn it into a drinking game. Something like...everytime that you get a gold drop take a shot.
2. Make it more meaningful. Like...everytime your char dies wax a strip of your leg hair...or shave off an eyebrow.
3. Rig up a dunking booth that drops you in cold water anytime you lose a PvP battle.

Or some more reasonable suggestions, like:
1. Go help other people advance in the game
2. Create a new character with a new profession, campaign, etc.
3. Read a book instead
4. Learn a foreign language
5. Go out and adventure in the real-world (great graphics, dynamic PvP, plenty of loot to find, etc.)
6. Volunteer in the community
7. Join a club or sports team
8. Join the military
etc. etc. etc. etc.

i had the same problem. i took a break for about 4 months, i played Lord of the Rings Online. i also skiied all winter, and now skiing is basically over, and now all i do is play guildwars! try PvPing, if you havnt, and if you had, try PvEing, as in get a new build for farming and that stuff. also, join a really good guild, also get to know people in game. to me, it makes the game way more enjoyable to have cool people to play with. so yeah, hope that helps. also! in the summer, definetly get outside, it helps!

1) Make a new character?

2) Play GW in Bork Bork Bork!

3) Get a life (lol).

4) Take a break from GW. Seriously, I started playing in 05 and felt the game beginning to lose its luster when Factions came out. I took a break for about 7 months, after which I began to get haunted with this epic craving for GW. And here I am once again...enjoying the best game of all time...
